IP doesn't affect me does it?

About Amanya IP / Anna’s Story

When Anna began sharing her expertise in intellectual property (IP), she found that business owners and professionals were eager to learn how to protect their innovations and creative assets. Drawing from her own experience-registering trademarks, navigating international IP law, and commercialising original work-Anna’s workshops provide practical, real-world guidance. She empowers businesses with the knowledge and strategies they need to safeguard their ideas, manage partnerships, and confidently navigate the complexities of IP in today’s competitive marketplace.

Challenges & Solutions

Businesses face complex intellectual property (IP) challenges when developing new products, services, or collaborating with partners.

Determining ownership of inventions or creative works-especially in joint ventures-can be complicated, and navigating patent filings, licensing agreements, and commercialisation strategies often feels overwhelming. Unclear policies or limited IP awareness can result in disputes or missed business opportunities. The rise of digital innovation and open-source collaboration adds even more complexity to protecting and leveraging IP assets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions, designs, music, literature, and art. It includes rights like copyrights, patents, trademarks, and designs.

Copyright: Protects original creative works like writings, music, and art.

Patents: Protects inventions.

Trademarks: Protects brand names and logos.

Design Rights: Protects the appearance of products.

Trade Secrets: Protect Confidential Information.

Right now, AI isn’t considered the owner of content it creates. There’s ongoing discussion about how to handle this, so stay updated.

Not registering your IP rights is a big mistake. This makes it harder to stop others from copying your brand or products. Make sure to register your IP in your business’s name, not your own.

Clear contracts help prevent disputes. If there’s a problem, consider using a mediator to resolve it peacefully.

Not following data protection laws like GDPR can lead to big fines. Make sure your IP management follows these rules.

Register your trademarks and patents. Keep an eye out for anyone using your ideas without permission and take action if needed. You can send a ‘Cease and desist letter’ which in other words means “stop using this” letter or go to court.

Common mistakes include not registering your IP, not having clear contracts with employees or freelancers, and not keeping good records. Also, don’t share your inventions too early, as this can stop you from getting a patent.

Legally Approved Courses
