As a creative, it is quite normal to gather a selection of things that inspire you on your creative journey.
Images, sketches, objects and so on.
But how many of us have believed the myth that if you copy less than 30% of another person’s work you are not infringing their intellectual property?
This is a lie.
When it comes to copying, the law assesses the copying in the quality and quantity not the %.
This is important to know. You may be asked to create something along the lines of someone else’s design, and this is worth bearing in mind if you are asked to do this for a project.
You may wonder if you can get away with something under these terms? Really, the best thing to do is to steer clear of getting something close to something else but not copying and coming up with your own ideas.
After all, would you like someone to do the same to you?
You can see more information about the Intellectual Property courses I have written at this link. They are written without all the legal jargon, but have been legally approved.
