Imagine it. Your first sale at 89 years old.
This is the inspiring story of Carmen Herrera. She was an Cuban-American artist who died on 12th Feb 2022, age 106.
She was born on 31st May 1915. She had studied Architecture, then Painting. She faced huge sexism towards her having exhibitions because she was a woman, but she was supported totally by her husband, Jesse Loewenthal, who championed her as she never let go of her dream.
Imagine painting full time for 60 years, doing exhibitions and never even selling 1 painting in all that time.
60 YEARS WITHOUT EVEN 1 SALE.
Then in 2004 she sold her first painting, 4 years after her husband had died. Aged 89 years old.

She was selling her work for over $1m before she died, aged 106.
