Life has a habit of throwing curve balls at us sometimes doesn’t it?
I caught the horrid fluey cold bug before Christmas that meant I couldn’t get all the things on my to-do list done in time before I was due to travel south.
Then 2 days before Christmas, Covid decided to visit our family which changed all our plans for the following week. We adapted and made the most of the great outdoors and Zoom to see each other. There was a LOT of food in the fridge to eat.
Then 2 days before New Year I tested positive which threw all my plans for New Year and catch-up plans for the next week out the window too! January isn’t quite going to plan for sure. In these times we need to learn how to keep flexible!
In January, we often take this time to reflect on the year before and look forward to the year ahead. I find this really helpful to do.
This year, one of my friends, Darrell Wayne Irwin from Hum4ns, shared a tool that could help with exactly that. A yearly game plan. This is free to download and you can get it here: https://hum4ns.co.uk/resources
The plan encourages us to review the year – I particularly enjoyed the part when we are asked to scroll through the photos on our phones and see the whole year in pictures. Then to draw, write or print out the images to see the year at at glance.
We are then taken through various prompts to look at different parts of our lives, with self development, health, relationships and giving. You are asked to reflect on your best moments of 2022, the wins and the challenges, what we are to let go of and what we need to hold onto. Failing forward, making peace with leaving the year and then looking forward to 2023.
I am still working through it, but the next stop after that is to put together my vision board for the year. I use an app that helps me do this and I talk about this in my free course called ‘Know Yourself.’
I also had my time with Nikki Tapley to plan my overall vision for the year.
Nikki is a brilliant mentor and friend and runs a ladies networking group called Inspire UK. Check out the link: www.inspireuk.org/membership if you’d like to understand a bit better what the membership can offer. It is a great bunch of ladies where we support, help and champion each other in whatever we are doing. I’ve really loved being part of the network this year.
Nikki and I chatted through the different parts of my life for the year ahead which gave vital clarity into the overall plan. I was getting a track to run on…
Here at the start of a new year, I want to wish you a very blessed 2023, and you’ll learn to excel with whatever this year will throw at you!
