Do you really know how IP affects you in your work?
When I’m networking and telling people I have been on a journey of writing courses to help people learn about Intellectual Property, I often have them asking me if I have got patents to protect my work?
Hmmmm. Patents are not the type of IP that is relevant for me.
This is a conversation I have had more than once.
It has made me realise 2 things
1) Business owners and entrepreneurs often don’t really understand about the types of IP, and those that do, are few and far between.
2) Designers and Artists frequently have never heard of it, let alone know how to use it to protect their work.
I have recently become a member of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and I will be doing a talk about ‘An Introduction to Intellectual Property in the Marketplace’ on Wed 29th November at 12-1pm online.

This talk will share how IP can affect your business and how that is instrumental in protecting what you do, and how easy it is for your work to be copied, stolen or mistreated. With practical examples beyond the theory this will help you understand ways that getting IP smart can have a positive impact upon the success of your businesses and creativity.
